Weather

League rules call for play to only be cancelled if there is lightning, or dangerous weather. Games will be played in the rain and snow, unless our field coordinator deems the fields unsafe, or that damage to the fields will occur. Away games are controlled by the league, or the local club. We will make every effort to alert coaches of field closures as soon as possible.

Play Time

General Policy
VSC believes every recreational player should have the opportunity to play at least 50% of each match. It is the responsibility of each coach to follow this policy.

However, there may be situations where player participation is limited.

Exceptions to Playing Time
Coaches may limit or deny playing time if they have a clear policy that addresses:

• Missing practice
• Discipline for unsportsmanlike or violent behavior at practice

These standards must be applied fairly and equally to all players. Playing time cannot be reduced below 50% based on a player’s ability or skill.

For teams with large rosters, reaching the 50% minimum may be difficult, and in these cases, playing time will be at the coach’s discretion based on the above criteria.

Player Placement

Every effort is made to assign returning players to the same team or coach as the previous season, unless parents request otherwise.

New players or players from teams that are no longer active will be assigned to existing teams within the same age bracket.

Parent requests for specific team placement are considered. While the club tries to honor all requests, placement is not guaranteed, as the priority is to keep teams balanced by number of players.

Siblings in the same age bracket are placed on the same team, unless parents request otherwise.

Verdigris Soccer Club does not perform player evaluations. Skill level is not considered when forming teams.

This is a recreational league. Players from Club or Academy teams should not register unless they have been released and are no longer playing at that level.

For co-ed teams, efforts are made to balance the number of boys and girls. However, maintaining core team groups may result in uneven gender ratios.

If there is only one coach in an age bracket, the team may become co-ed even in a gender-specific bracket.
Example: If only three girls register for U8, they may have the option to play on the boys’ team for that season.

When an age bracket starts with one coach, the roster is capped at the maximum allowed. If registrations exceed the cap, a second team is formed, and a coach is sought. Players are then divided between the teams based on the following priorities:

1. Returning players stay with their previous team.
2. New players are assigned to balance team sizes.
3. Parent requests for team placement are considered.
4. Siblings are placed on the same team.

VSC Membership

Once a player or family registers, they become general members of the Board. Members can attend open or general board meetings, including board elections.

Each member (family or representative) has one vote, which can be cast in person or by written proxy. Membership lasts one season or calendar year, as determined by the GCSA.

Refunds

• Refunds may be considered before the season starts (before playing any games) and are decided on a case-by-case basis.
• No refunds after the season starts.
• No refunds on uniforms at any time.
• No refunds will be issued for rule or code of conduct violations, or any situation not specifically covered above unless approved by the board.

Acceptance

Registering means you accept these terms.

All policies are also reviewed at coaches’ and parent meetings. Missing a meeting does not affect the terms of these policies.
